Terms and Conditions

These terms govern your use of travelbyluma.com and any booking you make through us. The most important point is the first one: we sell you a contract of carriage with an airline, and that airline — not travelbyluma — operates your flight.

Last updated 1 September 2026Effective for bookings made from 1 September 2026

1. Our role

travelbyluma acts as a booking agent. When you buy a ticket through us, the contract of carriage is between you and the operating airline, and that airline's conditions of carriage and fare rules apply to your journey. We are responsible for booking the ticket correctly and for the service we provide around it; we do not operate aircraft and cannot vary a carrier's terms.

We are an independent agency with no ownership by, or affiliation with, any airline, hotel chain, cruise line or rail operator. See the disclaimer.

2. Booking and ticketing

  • You must be 18 or over and legally able to enter a contract.
  • A booking is confirmed only when we issue an electronic ticket number. A search result, a quote or a held reservation is not a confirmed booking.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of every passenger name. Names must match the travel document exactly. Corrections after ticketing may incur a carrier fee, and some carriers do not permit them at all.
  • Where a fare becomes unavailable between quotation and ticketing, we will contact you with the revised price and will not charge you without your agreement.

3. Pricing and payment

Quoted prices are per passenger and include taxes, carrier-imposed surcharges and card processing unless stated otherwise. We charge no booking fee and no credit-card surcharge.

Fares are live inventory and are not guaranteed until ticketed. In the event of an obvious pricing error — a fare filed at a figure no reasonable person would take to be genuine — we may cancel the booking and refund you in full rather than honour it.

4. Your documentation

You are responsible for holding valid passports, visas, transit permits and any health documentation required by every country on your itinerary, including countries you only transit. Requirements depend on your nationality and can change at short notice.

Airlines deny boarding to passengers without correct documentation, and such a denial is not refundable. Our desk will gladly check requirements with you before you travel, but the obligation remains yours.

5. Changes and cancellations

Every ticket may be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours of issue, subject to the conditions in the refund and cancellation policy. After that window, the operating carrier's fare rules determine what is possible and at what cost. We will always quote the exact amount before acting.

6. Baggage and carriage

Baggage allowances, carry-on limits and excess charges are set by the operating carrier and, on multi-carrier itineraries, may differ per sector. The allowance shown at checkout reflects the fare rule at the time of booking; carriers may revise it. Liability for baggage loss or damage rests with the carrier under the Montreal Convention.

7. Disruption and force majeure

We are not liable for delay, cancellation, diversion or denied boarding caused by the carrier, air traffic control, weather, strike, epidemic, civil unrest, airport closure or any other event outside our reasonable control. Where such an event occurs we will re-accommodate you or obtain the refund you are entitled to, at no service charge from us.

Statutory compensation — EU/UK Regulation 261/2004, US DOT rules, or equivalent — is payable by the operating airline. We will provide the documentation needed to claim it.

8. Limitation of liability

Our liability arising from a booking is limited to the total amount you paid us for that booking. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including missed connections booked separately, lost earnings, accommodation or events. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, medical costs and missed connections.

9. Acceptable use

You may not use this site to make speculative, fraudulent or duplicate bookings, to scrape fare data, or to interfere with its operation. We may cancel bookings made in breach of this clause.

10. Intellectual property

The design, text, code and graphics of this site are owned by travelbyluma. Airline names and marks referenced on this site are the property of their respective owners and are used descriptively to identify routes and carriers.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and the courts of New York have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your home jurisdiction. If any clause is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in force.

We may amend these terms; the version in force is the one published on the date your booking is ticketed. Questions: support@travelbyluma.com.
